The Queensland Police Service Rugby League Association (QPSRLA) State Rugby League Team participated in the annual 9-11 Memorial Rugby League Game against a representative side from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service at Suncorp Stadium on Thursday 18 August 2016. The game was played as a curtain raiser to the Broncos versus Bulldogs NRL match.
The game is played annually and is played in the memory of the emergency services personnel who lost their lives in the September 11 terrorist attacks in New York.
The game was played in the usual ‘hard as nails’ manner with neither team giving any quarter to the opposition however the Firies proved to strong and went to the half time break leading 10 points to nil. The second half was played in the same manner as the first with the police giving it their all but unable to convert to points and at the full time siren the firies won 18 points to nil.
2016 Queensland Fire and Emergency Services 18 defeated Queensland Police Service 0
